My Review: First things first: Widows' Revenge is the sequel to Widows, which has recently been given the Hollywood treatment. The film has had good reviews and I am looking forward to seeing it.
I love Lynda La Plante's books. And I'd highly recommend both the Jane Tennison (Prime Suspect and the Tennison prequel) and the Anna Travis' series. As such I was delighted to receive an advance copy of Widows' Revenge. WIDOWS' REVENGE concentrates on Dolly and her band of accidental thieves - the widows of proper London criminals. The story contains many characters but thanks to La Plante’s superior storytelling you know exactly who everyone is at all times. The story is fast-paced and very engaging. It was pure escapism. With twists and turns and even heartache. You're rooting for Dolly and the girls, but they seem to be thwarted at every turn. I read the story over two days in the best possible surroundings (in the sun). VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Thank you so much the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a complimentary electronic copy in return for an honest review.
