My Review: SEX, DRUGS, AND ROCK & ROLL
I had heard so many good things about Daisy Jones and the Six – to the point that I was worried my expectations were too high. But worry not - it really is that good. Daisy Jones & The Six is such a detailed and well-accomplished oral history of a fictional rock band in the 1970s that you have to remind yourself it's fiction. I have nostalgia for the Los Angeles scene in the seventies and the sunset strip and the heady parties held at Chateau Marmont. I love that music – Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, I loved the story and the telling of the rock music journey from an idea for a band to super stardom. I want to know Daisy Jones, I want to hear her music. When I finished the book, I suffered immense grief at the loss of the world that Taylor Jenkins Reid had painted. Before I read this book and before it was even published it had been bought by Reese Witherspoon's production company to turn into a television series. Bring it on! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Thank you so much the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a complimentary electronic copy in return for an honest review.
